For the love of Wildlife

Our Company

What truly drives Painteddog is a stubborn and slightly obsessive love for this continent, and the wild corners of the world, and our love for the people who keep it wild.

We spend our days, and far too many nights, arguing over the perfect light on a salt pan, choosing the best guide for a first-time family, or defending the camps that still feel as though they belong to the bush rather than to a brand.

We build journeys for travellers who refuse to collect countries. They would rather come home with salt in their hair, with stories that do not fit on Instagram, and with a quieter kind of understanding about the world.

Places that move you, people who welcome you like an old friend, moments that sneak up and rearrange your priorities.

That is what we chase.

Thank you for trusting us with your time in wild places. We do not take it lightly.

With gratitude

Maasai Mara - Kenya

I just completed my fourth safari, this time in Kenya's Maasai Mara. Painted Dog Safari made my first trip to Kenya an amazing experience. The members of the Painted Dog team set up an outstanding itinerary for us to visit Kenya during their green season, when the crowds and prices are at their lowest. We were greeted before we even got our bags at Nairobi International Airport, and taken care of every step of the way.

When we got to our first camp, Mara Elatia, we found that there were only 2-4 other people in camp, and the staff took great care of us during our stay. When frequent afternoon thunderstorms in the Mara made the rivers rise so high that we couldn't drive to our second camp, Painted Dog was on it, and quickly altered our plans so we could take a quick flight to Mara Intrepids, where the staff once again took care of us in a beautiful setting and with luxurious accommodations.

Finally, the safari gave us plentiful wildlife sightings and photo opportunities, with the flexibility to remain in the field all day or return to camp for breakfast or lunch if we preferred. I would happily return for another Painted Dog Safari experience, and highly recommend it to anyone thinking of experiencing Africa's wild places!
